UXBRIDGE YOUTH SOCCER LEAGUE

U-5 IN-TOWN PLAYING RULES

• Law 1: The ball shall be size 3 for U-5
• Law 2: Number of players - maximum number on the field (4) including keeper. Each player shall play a minimum of 50% of the total game time.
• Law 3: Players equipment: Shirts - provided by the League. Footwear; tennis type of rubber-molded soccer cleats, supplied by the players. Shin-guards: MANDATORY; supplied by the player. Mouth-guards; recommended; supplied by the player. Water; MANDATORY; supplied by the player.
• Law 4: Duration of the game; four equal 10-minute quarters. Two minute breaks between quarters; five minute break at the half.
• Law 5: The start of play - kick-off at the center mark. Opponents must be five (5) yards away from the center mark.
• Law 6: Off-sides - there shall be no off-sides.
• Law 7: Fouls and misconducts: Conforms to all FIFA rules.
  All fouls shall result in an INDIRECT FREE KICK with the opponents five yards away. The referee/coach must explain ALL infractions to the offender.
• Law 8: Free Kicks - classified under one heading: INDIRECT
• Law 9: Penalty Kicks - no penalty kicks shall be taken during these games.
• Law 10: Throw-in: conform to FIFA rules
  A second throw-in must be allowed if the initial attempt was a foul. The referee/coach shall explain the proper method.
• Law 11: Goal kick: to be taken from any point inside the goal area. Opponents must be 5 yards away.
• Law 12: Corner kick: conform to FIFA rules. Opponents must be 5 yards away.
• Law 13: Substitutions: may be made during own throw-in, any goal kick, and any kick-off. A single substitution may be made for an injured player. The referee/coach must be signaled before a substitution is made.

GENERAL RULES: Scoring and standings will NOT be reported; emphasis is on participation and play, not winning. One coach from each team is allowed on the field to referee and also instruct during the game. No spectators will be allowed behind the goal of either team (unless the parent of the goalie).
